Congressman Patrick Murphy spent part of the day on the Loxahatchee River.
Murphy joined Tequesta Mayor Abby Brennan on a tour to see how the new All Aboard Florida rail line will affect area residents.
Mayor Brennan says the mechanism that allows the train trestle bridge to open and close is more than sixty years old and often gets stuck.
Congressman Murphy says if this happens with heavy train traffic, first responders won't be able to get across in case of an emergency. "If there is a problem west of the bridge, if that is down, there is no other safety patrol on the other side of the bridge so this is a real concern for them."
Mayor Brennan is asking All Aboard Florida to foot the bill to fix the bridge.
The rail line is expected to answer safety concerns in an environmental safety report at the end of May.
