PALM BEACH COUNTRY ESTATES, Fla. - UPDATE: The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office tells NewsChannel 5 that the body found in a Hendry County sugarcane field has been identified as missing school nurse, Kimberly Lindsey.
PBSO has also stated that what began as a missing person case is now a homicide investigation.
Crime scene investigators said a a violent confrontation happened at the Palm Beach Gardens home where Lindsey lives after which the body was removed and taken to the remote area where it was discovered, according to a news release.
The cause of death has yet to be determined.
Out of state search crews have been told to stand down as detectives continue investigating the disappearance of Kimberly Lindsey.
Texas EquuSearch has been told to delay their flights to South Florida until investigators are able to identify the body of a female found in Hendry County.
At the same time, posters are going up outside Lindsey's home. They ask anyone with information about her disappearance to call authorities.
At Bak Middle School, where Lindsey is a nurse, yellow ribbons have gone up to show support. When she didn't show up for work Monday her coworker called police.
Lindsey's family said yesterday her disappearance is out of character. They begged anyone with information to come forward.
Crime scene detectives showed up at the Lindsey home late Thursday night. They were seen coming and going, but did not reveal why.
A gathering is being organized Friday at six thirty to show support for Lindsey's family. It will be at the 911 memorial in Palm Beach Gardens and the public is invited.
