Investigators are working to identify a body found in Hendry County Wednesday

Medical examiners are trying to determine the identity of a woman's body found in a field near Clewiston.

Agencies here and elsewhere have been especially quiet. It is also unclear if DNA results are in.

The body was found directly south of the center of Clewiston. There are few roads and cane fields as far as the eye can see.

The Hendry County Sheriff's Office says farm workers were in a field near County Road 835 and Blumberg Road when they came across the body of a woman Wednesday morning.

Who is she?

"There are several people missing. We have some missing individuals from our own county. So, until we get those results back from the medical examiner's office, we just can't speculate. We're waiting on that. And, irregardless of the outcome, whether it's our case or whether or not it's Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office, we're going to continue to just do what we have to do," said Hendry County Sheriff's Office Captain Susan Harrelle.

The Hendry County Sheriff's Office says if the body hadn't been found it may have been months or longer before it was located or may not have been found at all.
