A woman has been arrested by the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office in connection with a fatal crash that occurred last month on Northlake and Hall boulevards.
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - A woman has been arrested by the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office in connection with a fatal crash that occurred last month on Northlake and Hall boulevards.
Deputies say that Karmela Roy was driving her Dodge ram pickup that struck a Honda Accord driven by Penni Conroy on Nov. 7 just before 2 p.m.
Roy's arrest report says that she was traveling eastbound on Northlake Blvd when she drifted across the center line and into the westbound lane causing causing a head on collision.
Investigators say that Roy was traveling 85 miles per hour at the time her truck crossed to the other lane.
Deputies say that after the accident Roy was standing up and down erratically and they referred to her on the scene as "spark plug'.
Penni Conroy suffered serious injuries and her husband Thomas Conroy died from injuries sustained during the wreck, according to investigators.
Blood drawn from Roy after the accident contained traces of four different drugs according to deputies.
Roy is facing charges of DUI manslaughter, DUI causing injuries and vehicular homicide, according to PBSO.
A judge denied bond at her first appearance at the Gun Club Road courtroom.
