9 undocumented migrants in custody after coming ashore in Jupiter

JUPITER, Fla. - Undocumented migrants are in police custody after coming ashore near Jupiter on Thursday morning.

United States Border Patrol said a boat dropped off either 12 or 13 people of Haitian decent in the Jupiter area around 3:30 a.m.

Border Patrol agents, Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office, Martin County Sheriff's Office and Jupiter police were called to an area near Beach Road around 6 a.m.

Five men and four women were taken into custody.

The migrants were brought over in a small boat from the Bahamas, said Border Patrol. Officials said they are still looking for three or four others.

The boat has not been located.
