JUPITER, Fla. - A man was struck and killed by a vehicle Monday evening as he walked north across the eastbound lanes of Indiantown Road at the intersection with Military Trail, said Sgt. Scott Pascarella, spokesman for Jupiter Police Department.
The victim, identified as David McCurdy, 47, was struck by a vehicle traveling east on Indiantown Road at 7:30 p.m., Pascarella said.
Based on the information received, police said McCurdy was walking north across the eastbound lanes of the intersection.
At which time, a 2002 Pontiac Aztec was traveling east on Indiantown Road approaching Military Trail to proceed through the intersection on a green light traffic signal.
Police said McCurdy entered the path of the Pontiac against the red light pedestrian control device. The pedestrian was struck by the Pontiac and came to rest in the west bound turn lane of Indiantown Road.
McCurdy was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation is currently pending, said police.
