Nationwide Pools: Pool company steps in where a competitor under investigation left off

Palms Pools to help customers in limbo

JUPITER, Fla. - Dozens of pools from Palm Beach to Miami-Dade county that were supposed to be pristine, are green and unfinished. Although the State Attorney General's Office is investigating Nationwide pools, the company in question, a third-party pool company is trying to help out.

"When I talk to these people they're angry and hurt. They have just had it," said Joe Bertolami, with Palms Pools in Jupiter.

Left with an eyesore in their backyards, customers are turning to Palms Pools for help. Joe Bertolami once worked for Nationwide, he wouldn't comment on whether he saw wrong-doing while an employee. He says what he wants to do now is help.

"We can probably wrap them up within six weeks, and change the contract with the city," said Bertolami.

He hopes this investigation is a lesson for anyone looking to put in a pool. He says most companies are reputable, but it pays to do your homework.

"Check them out on the BBB website, ask to see their work, go to their work, the more information you can get, the better off you'll be," said Bertolami.

NewsChannel 5 reached out to the owner of Nationwide Pools today for comment. He says that his company is cooperating with the state investigation.
