Joshua Melvin, Tequesta man accused of spraying Silly String, arrested according to an affidavit

JUPITER, Fla. - Doing something silly can turn into a sobering experience.

That's what a Tequesta man learned this week.

Police arrested 20-year-old Joshua Melvin after he was suspected of spraying a Jupiter High School staff member in the face with Silly String.

Melvin was one of four men wearing masks who jumped a fence at a Jupiter High School powder puff football game Tuesday night and sprayed players and coaches in the face with the Silly String, according to a probable cause affidavit.

A staffer ran after the group and tried to stop one of them.

He ended up grabbing Melvin and held him down, but not before Melvin sprayed the staffer in the face, the affidavit says.

The three other masked men jumped a fence and escaped.

Police arrested Melvin and charged him with aggravated battery.
