Greenacres man charged with bank robbery in Jupiter

JUPITER, Fla. - A 31-year-old man was arrested on Saturday, a few hours after robbing a Wells Fargo Bank in the 600 block of W. Indiantown Road in Jupiter, according to the Jupiter Police Department.

Matthew W. Gaylord entered the bank at 6735 W. Indiantown Road around 11:20 a.m., approached a teller and demanded all the money in the drawer. He implied that he had a weapon, although no weapon was seen, said Scott Pascarella, police spokesman.

Gaylord, who was wearing a blue shirt, baseball cap and sunglasses, fled the bank parking lot in a Dodge pick-up truck with an undisclosed amount of cash.

A witness who was in the parking lot saw him get in the truck and followed him south on Interstate 95. The witness notified law enforcement where Florida Highway Patrol and the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office could locate the vehicle on Southern Boulevard.

Authorities followed Gaylord to his home in Greenacres, where he surrendered without incident.

Gaylord was arrested and will be charged with robbery. The Jupiter Police Department is working with the Federal Bureau of Investigations regarding Gaylord's involvement in additional bank robberies in the area.
