Kay-Lynette Roca: Founder of Safe Harbor Animal Shelter vows to run establishment again

JUPITER, Fla. - Kay-Lynette Roca, the woman who founded Safe Harbor Animal Sanctuary and was later fired after 28 years of service, has vowed to be head of the animal shelter once again.

"My goal is to take my organization back. I do not own Safe Harbor. You can't own a not for profit. But it was my vision. It was my dream and it was my mission statement and it was stolen from me and I'm going to take it back,” she said.

Over the last several months Roca has been investigated by Jupiter police and the IRS amid allegations of money mismanagement.
At this point Roca has not been charged. She said, ‘We had an ironclad system in place and never could anyone ever tell you that I ever cut myself a check, told anyone to pay me money...never.” She added, “I am angry and I am going to fight back.”

She says the past 15 months have been hell and her reputation has been ruined.

In November, the no kill shelter underwent a regime change again and was given a new name: Furry Friends Adoption and Clinic.
