JUPITER, Fla. - UPDATE: Brush fire contained in Jupiter. It grew to about ten acres before it was brought under control. No homes were damaged and no one was injured.
Investigators say a group of teenagers may have been playing paintball in the area before the fire broke out.
"Apparently one of them used a smoke grenade and it caught woods on fire," says Battalion Chief Mike Wells.
Officials continue to investigate the situation.
Firefighters are battling a brush fire spanning about 5 acres in Jupiter near Greenway Drive and Dakota Drive in Abacoa, near Abacoa Golf Club.
Because of an increase in wind, Palm Beach County Fire Department units are protecting some homes and sending extra units to keep the fire from getting too large.
One neighbor said some youngsters were playing Airsoft, and threw an Airsoft grenade, and the brush caught on fire.
Airsoft is similar to paintball, but pellets are used instead of paint.
Fire investigators have not confirmed how the fire started.
