Arrest made in Home Depot parking lot shooting, robbery

A 17-year-old armed robbery suspect was arrested Friday morning in connection with the Home Depot shooting and robbery that happened Thursday. 

The armed robbery occurred at the parking lot of a Home Depot store located at 1694 West Indiantown Rd. at 5:40 a.m.

Police said the gunmen approached the two victims while they were waiting for the store to open.

The shooting victim, Jesus Manuel Perea–Ortiz, 36, was taken to St. Mary's Medical Center where he underwent surgery for a gunshot wound to the leg.

According to Riviera Beach police, at approximately 1 a.m. Thursday, officers followed the suspect's vehicle and attempted to conduct a felony stop when the vehicle fled and crashed in the area of 45th Street and Congress Avenue.

Officials say the suspect was taken to St. Mary's Hospital and then transported to Juvenile Assessment Center, where he remains in custody. 

Jupiter Police detectives responded and conduct an interview with the suspect. He was charged with robbery with a firearm and attempted homicide.
