JUPITER, Fla. -- The imminent closure of two bridges will impact drivers with delays and detours but increase the sales of some businesses, some business owners said.
On Saturday, the Central Boulevard bridge will temporarily close to traffic and pedestrians at the C-18 Canal.
Soon, County Road 707/Beach Road will close over the Intracoastal Waterway for eight nights.
The dates of the closings have not been set, but business owners said the cumulative effect of construction on the bridges and nearby roads would boost business as some people avoided the construction zones.
"I get a lot of customers that take the back road to come to my business -- which is good," said Shobhana Ragoonanan, an owner of The Wineyard Liquors.
The Central Boulevard bridge is being widened and is expected to re-open on Sunday, March 31st.
It was closed to coincide with Spring Break.
Construction of the County Road 707/Beach Road bridge is expected to be completed in early July.
