William Arnold Greene, Martin County firefighter, charged with lewd conduct with teen girl

PORT ST. LUCIE — A firefighter/paramedic with Martin County Fire Rescue accused of inappropriate, lewd conduct with a teen girl was held Friday in the St. Lucie County Jail without bond, according to an arrest affidavit and a jail official.

William Arnold Greene, of the 500 block of Northwest Floresta Drive in Port St. Lucie, was arrested by Port St. Lucie police on three felony counts of lewd/lascivious behavior victim 12 to 16 years old/offender 18 or older and a single felony lewd and lascivious conduct charge, an arrest affidavit states.

Greene was hired in 1992, Fire Rescue Chief Joseph Ferrara said.

"We placed him on administrative suspension pending further information regarding the arrest," Ferrara said.

The incidents apparently began about 18 months ago, with one being as recent as Dec. 26, according to statements in his arrest affidavit.

The teen girl said Greene touched her backside and other private areas about three times a week. She also said he asked her to look at his genitals. She turned away and heard the sound of a zipper, but didn't seen anything. She said Greene asked her to have sex, and she told him no.

Further, she said Greene made statements about killing her, her mother and grandmother and embarking on a "shooting spree."

In a phone call between Greene and the girl that was monitored by police, the girl said, "I've asked you to stop many times." Greene cut her off and said, "I don't know where I was at, what I was thinking, or anything like that."

Greene then said, "But nothing that, and I guarantee, will never happen again."

She later said, "But ... you asked me to have sex with you."

Greene shouted that "none of that is going to happen," and she said "it (touching)" already occurred.

"A guy goes out and gets drunk one time or a couple of times and ..." he said.

Police reportedly spoke to Greene and said he wouldn't "admit to his own statements made on the telephone" with the girl.

He said he touched her chest while wrestling and had his forearm and bicep against her crotch area while wrestling, but denied touching her inappropriately.

Arrested Thursday, Greene was taken to the St. Lucie County jail where he was held Friday on no bond, a jail official said.
