Two young men accused of carjacking in Martin County arrested in West Palm Beach

STUART, Fla. - Two young men are in custody on Friday night following an alleged armed carjacking in Martin County on Friday afternoon.

The Martin County Sheriff’s Office says a 15-year-old juvenile and 20-year-old Darius Philmore stole a black Lexus SUV  from a real estate agent with the Florida tag ‘RIK320’ on Southeast Ocean Boulevard in Stuart.

Palm Beach County Deputies spotted the stolen vehicle just after 6:00 p.m. on Friday in the area of Okeechobee Boulevard and Congress in West Palm Beach, said Teri Barbera, spokeswoman for the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.

Then, deputies followed that vehicle to the area of Congress Avenue and Palm Beach Lakes, arresting the driver when the car came to a halt, said Barbera.

The passenger in the car fled, but was caught by authorities minutes after in a nearby apartment complex, Barbera said.

Both of the young men will be facing multiple charges in both Palm Beach County in Martin County which include but aren’t limited to: fleeing police, and  armed robbery, grand theft auto.
