Stuart's 'two Main Streets' featured on MSNBC program 'Your Business'

The weekly MSNBC program “Your Business” recently featured a segment about downtown Stuart and East Stuart called “Main Street USA.”

MSNBC in April sent a producer and video crew to interview business owners and local officials in downtown Stuart and East Stuart, both of which are Florida Main Street communities.

The segment discusses the history of East Stuart and the community's efforts to restore historic sites and bring in more businesses, while bringing the two Main Streets together to create one business district.

"We had halls, dance halls, we had more clothing stores. We had several restaurants. You name it, it was here," Philip Harvey, owner of Harvey Plaza, says in the program. "We had an abundance of places to go."

The program also takes a look at downtown Stuart and it's abundance of businesses.

"You see full occupancy downtown. You see that whenever there's a vacancy it's filled very quickly," Thondra Lanese, manager of Stuart and East Stuart Main Streets, says in the segment. "You see strong, strong collaboration between our downtown business groups, our Main Street program and the city and CRA."
