STUART, Fla. - One person was killed after car crashes into a tree Wednesday afternoon on Interstate 95 in Stuart, according to Lt. Mark Wysocky, spokesman for the Florida Highway Patrol.
The accident happened around 5:20 p.m. in the southbound lanes of I-95, according to Daniel Hashburger, spokesman for Martin County Fire Rescue.
The driver, whose gender and identity were not revealed pending notification of next-of-kin, was taken to Martin Memorial Hospital South in Stuart, Hashburger said.
The accident victim, the only occupant of the vehicle, died a few hours after the accident, according to FHP.
The accident blocked two southbound lanes of the highway for several hours.
