Jon Rashotsky: Man suspected of stealing a car and trying to out run the police arrested

STUART, Fla. - Stuart Police have arrested a driver accused of stealing a car from Palm Beach County.

Tuesday night  Stuart Officer David Jacobson saw a white four-door Volkswagen weaving northbound on SW Federal Highway. The officer attempted to stop the vehicle.

Police say that the driver did not stop and instead fled.  A pursuit ensued.

Stuart police confirmed that the vehicle was stolen from Palm Beach County.

The stolen Volkswagen continued to accelerate on NW Federal Highway where it eventually crashed in the area of NW Federal Highway and NW Britt Rd.

Police say the driver Jon Rashotsky  of Delray Beach fled on foot.

Martin County Sheriff deputies helped Stuart police take Rashotsky into custody.

Investigators says that a passenger in the car was unaware the vehicle was stolen.

Rashotsky was arrested and charged with grand theft auto, fleeing and eluding police, and resisting an officer without violence. He was held at the Martin County Jail in lieu of $25,000.00 bond.
