STUART, Fla. Governor Rick Scott has arrived at the St. Lucie Lock and many who showed up to see him are not happy.
Some were chanting "save our river."
Hours before his scheduled appearance, people filtered in armed with signs to protest water discharges from Lake Okeechobee.
Governor Scott is touring a section of the St. Lucie River impacted by toxic algae.
The visit comes after weeks of public outcry surrounding the environmental and economic impact the toxic water has had in the communities surrounding the St. Lucie Estuary.
Protesters said they were relieved that the governor is visiting but say they are more concerned about what action he will take after touring the St. Lucie Lock.
