Two brush fires were investigated on the Treasure Coast Monday afternoon.
A fire broke out in a wooded area near Wal-Mart along SE Federal Highway in Stuart.
SE Commerce Street from SE Pomeroy Street north to SE Fischer Street WAS closed as was SE Miami Avenue from Commerce Street to U.S. 1.
Also, 43rd Avenue was blocked for northbound traffic at 26th Street for a brush fire near the Indian River County Sheriff's Office Jail. The Florida Division of Forestry says the 3-acre blaze was caused by lightning and is contained.
