The Martin County Sheriff's Office says the "reckless motorcycle" crashed into the car at the intersection of S. Kanner Highway and South River Drive.
The Florida Highway Patrol said a 19-year-old motorcyclist from Boynton Beach died Wednesday in a Martin County crash after a local deputy attempted to pull the man over.
According to the FHP report, the crash happened at 1:25 p.m. on State Road 76 at South River Drive outside of Stuart.
The incident began when a Martin County Sheriff’s Office deputy tried to stop the motorcycle but the rider, identified as Jeremy Justin Gonzalez, 19, fled from the scene.
FHP said the deputy was never involved in a pursuit and disengaged his attempt to stop the motorcycle once it fled.
The report said Gonzalez continued at a high-rate of speed and struck a 2011 Buick Regal that was turning.
Gonzalez was pronounced dead at the scene.
