Palm City man, 18, arrested on open house party, alcohol charges

PALM CITY, Fla. - An "out of control" Palm City house party where one partygoer ran his truck into a tree resulted in the teenage host facing charges, according to a Martin County Sheriff's Office incident report.

Early Saturday morning, deputies charged Collin Becker, 18, of the 5600 block of Southwest Ranchito Street, with hosting an open house party and underage possession of alcohol, the report states.

At 12:26 a.m., deputies responded to a call of 50 to 60 people at a house party where a 20-year-old partygoer had crashed his gray Dodge truck into a large palm tree at the end of the driveway.

The 20-year-old said someone threw a beer bottle that hit him on the side of his face, which caused him to crash, the report states. Martin County Fire Rescue treated and released the man for cuts to his face and neck. He was not cited.

Partygoers, who declined to give a deputy their names, said the 20-year-old had been fighting with others when he got in his truck and started spinning the truck's tires to throw dirt on others' cars, the report states. They also said while he was on his way out of the driveway, the 20-year-old sideswiped several cars and crashed into a tree, the report states.

Inside the home, a deputy saw dozens of beer bottles on the kitchen counter, empty beer cans on the floor, two half-full liquor bottles on the kitchen floor and more beer bottles on the back porch, the report states.

Becker told a deputy he invited a few friends over for a party. However, other uninvited guests began arriving and for a few hours he attempted to get them to leave.

Becker was released Saturday from the Martin County Jail on $500 bail.
