Man accused of sex crime on disabled nursing home resident

PALM CITY, Fla. -- A man is accused of exposing himself to a disabled nursing home resident in Palm City according to the Martin County Sheriff's Office.

Steven Ferrelli, 44, was visiting a family member at Palm City Nursing and Rehabilitation Center with his girlfriend and child when he followed a disabled 58-year-old resident into her room and exposed himself to her according to an arrest affidavit.

Witnesses said that Ferrelli fled the area after being discovered in the bathroom with the resident.  Deputies conducted a search of the area and located Ferrelli approximately 45 minutes later in a wooded area behind a shopping center at 2325 SW Martin Highway.  The victim and witnesses then positively identified Ferrelli.

According to the Florida Department of Corrections website, Ferrelli served two sentences in the Department of Corrections.  Ferrelli has several previous arrests in Martin County including arrests for trespassing, violating injunction, violating probation, petit theft, burglary, loitering & prowling, and battery.

Ferrelli is currently held on $2500 bond at the Martin County Jail.  He is charged with lewd or lascivious committed upon a disabled person.
