PALM CITY, Fla. - One person was killed after an early-morning crash Wednesday on Interstate 95 northbound in Martin County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The wreck occurred around 3:48 a.m. Wednesday at I-95 near SW Martin Highway in Palm City.
The victim was identified as Tarah L. Hunter, 29, of Port St. Lucie.
Hunter was driving northbound on I-95 in the outside travel lane but failed to negotiate a curve, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report.
Her vehicle, a 2010 Toyota Matrix, traveled off the road onto the grass median that separates the northbound and southbound travel lanes of I-95.
Upon traveling onto the grass median, the car began to rotate in a clockwise direction, sliding sideways. This caused the car to collide into a tree.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation
