The Martin County Sheriff's Office says it has seen an increase in phone scams.

Automated calls are going out to people in Jensen Beach, claiming they've missed jury duty and there's a warrant out for their arrest.

The calls often threaten residents that if they don't pay they will have their electricity shut off.

The sheriff’s office is warning residents not to fall for it because the agency doesn't make phone calls about arrest warrants.

If you receive a call threatening any type of action against you if you do not pay money, you are advised to hang up.
