Joseph Haas sentenced to 65 years in arson that injured firefighters

MARTIN COUNTY, Fla. - A judge has sentenced Joseph Haas to 65 years in prison for deliberately setting a fire that ended up injuring four Martin County firefighters.

Haas was found guilty in a trial in July of arson, arson resulting in serious injury, grand theft, and four counts of attempted involuntary manslaughter.

An arrest report showed that Haas said he would let his house burn down before letting the bank or anyone else take it from him.

The most seriously hurt firefighter in the December 2012 fire was Jahwann McIntyre.

McIntyre was trapped inside for a time and suffered burns to his legs, hands, feet and abdomen.
