JENSEN BEACH, Fla. - The Treasure Coast Square Mall will reopen Tuesday after an electrical fire forced the mall to be evacuated Monday afternoon, said Chief John Belding, spokesman for Martin County Fire Rescue.
Firefighters responded around 5:45 p.m. to a call from mall security regarding a dumpster fire. Arriving crews found a transformer and an electrical panel on fire near the Dillard's and food court area of the mall, Belding said.
Florida Power & Light cut power to the mall while crews battled to extinguish the fire. The mall was evacuated as a precautionary measure, Belding said.
Belding said that four to five stores between Dillard's and the food court will remain close on Tuesday. He didn't know when the stores will reopen.
The fire didn't damage any of the stores and there were no reports of injuries, Belding said.
The cause of the electrical fire is under investigation.
