Three swimmers rescued from rip currents in Jensen Beach

JENSEN BEACH, Fla. - Three people were rescued from waters near the Jensen Public Beach on NE Ocean Boulevard Tuesday afternoon after being pulled away from shore by the ocean’s strong currents, said Chief John Belding, spokesman for Martin County Fire Rescue.

Rescue crews responded around 3:52 p.m. to reports of three people in trouble,being pulled away from shore by the currents. When they arrived, they found the three had been pulled from the water by lifeguards.

“The rips have been really bad and it appears that they were being pulled by the current,” said Chief Belding.

After being evaluated, they three were transported to local hospitals for observation, Belding said.
