Hobe Sound woman charged after falsely accusing ex-husband of kidnapping daughter

HOBE SOUND, Fla. - A Hobe Sound woman faces criminal charges after falsely accused her ex-husband of kidnapping their 16-year-old daughter.

Detectives on Tuesday charged Jennifer Sacket, 46, of the 9200 block of Southeast Yacht Club Circle, with giving a false official statement after claiming her ex-husband had kidnapped their daughter and without Sacket's permission took the girl across state lines, according to a Martin County Sheriff's Office arrest report.

On July 11, Sacket went to the Sheriff's Office and claimed her ex-husband denied her visitation with their 16-year-old daughter. Sacket claimed she hadn't see their daughter since February 2012.

However, detectives found that on May 22 deputies were called to the ex-husband's home to take the daughter to Sacket's home to pick up books the girl left behind. The ex-husband could not take the girl because he has a restraining order forbidding contact with Sacket.

When the daughter and the deputy arrived, Sacket denied the girl access, saying the books were not the home and that the daughter had to make an appointment to meet with her because Sacket was getting ready to go out, the report states.

Sacket was released from the Martin County Jail Wednesday on $2,500 bail.
