A gas leak that occurred Wednesday in Martin County has been sealed, but it's still causing some traffic troubles along Kanner Highway on Thursday morning.

Lt. Steve Mochen said construction crews clipped a 6-inch natural gas line before noon Wednesday.

Interstate 95 off ramps for the Stuart exit are open but expect some closures Thursday morning on Kanner Highway.

All lanes of Kanner Highway westbound are open, but only one lane is open eastbound.  The Martin County Sheriff's Office said crews are still fixing the road after repairs.

On Wednesday, workers were tunneling a new conduit under the road when they hit the gas line, drilling a hole into it.

District Chief Dan Wouters with Martin County Fire said the gas line services about 500 homes in the area.

Everyone who was evacuated is back home after the leak was sealed at 3:30 a.m. Thursday.

Workers said all lanes should be back open around 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Thursday, so drivers should plan accordingly.
