Deadly stabbing in Martin County

A Martin County woman is in custody following the stabbing death of her boyfriend.

Arnetha McIntyre was detained after Martin County Sheriff's detectives answered a call last night at an apartment complex on southeast Lisbon Circle in Stuart.

A 53-year-old man who lived in the apartment with McIntyre had been stabbed in the chest.

He was later identified as Kenneth Joe Harris and died after being transported to a hospital.

According to the Martin County Sheriff's Office, McIntyre said she had been at a party with Harris and after returning began arguing.

According to a news release, Harris went to the laundry room "and at that point she picked up a knife, followed him (Harris)  to the laundry room area, swung the knife at him, and returned to the kitchen area."

McIntyre was initially arrested for aggravated domestic battery. Detectives have now charged her with second degree murder. She is being held without bond.

After securing a search warrant detectives say they recovered a kitchen knife, approximately six to seven inches in length. They believe it was the weapon used in the stabbing.
