1 dead, 3 others hurt after Kanner Highway crash in western Martin County

A fatal crash involving three vehicles blocked all lanes of Kanner Highway Friday morning in western Martin County.

The wreck occurred about 5:39 a.m. just east of Warfield Boulevard.

The Florida Highway Patrol says an Altima driven by Kearria Sawyers, 24, of Indiantown was rear ended by a Maxima driven by Juan Carlos Loredo Rangel of Indiantown causing it to spin. The Altima rotated counter clockwise and was struck by the front of a Toyota Sienna driven by Caroll Mcallister, 78, of Indiantown, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. 

A passenger in the Sienna, Matthew Mcalilster,79, of Indiantown died at a hospital, FHP said.

The driver of the Altima sustained serious injuries and the other two drivers had minor injuries.

All lanes were blocked for about three hours but back open by 9:30 a.m.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
