Body found Wednesday in Indiantown identified as Dylan Andrew McKelvey

MARTIN COUNTY – Sheriff's detectives are now investigating the suspicious death of 18-year-old Dylan McKelvey as the county's first murder of the year, said Sheriff William Snyder.

He was the grandson of the late Andrew McKelvey, who was the builder of and died in 2008 at age 74, according to his obituary.

Dylan McKelvey's body was found just before noon Wednesday in a field in Indiantown behind the county Fire Rescue Booker Park station, Christofek said. Workers in the area of the 15100 block of Southwest 169th Avenue reported finding his body.

His last known address was Jensen Beach, Christofek said.

The Medical Examiner's Office in Fort Pierce ruled Thursday morning his death was a murder, Snyder said, but he isn't releasing the cause of death while the case is under investigation.

Officials didn't know how long McKelvey's body had been there or how he died, Christofek said.
