Vero Beach police searching for man who attempted to rob jogger

VERO BEACH — Police are looking into an attempted robbery of a female adult jogger at the Jaycee Park boardwalk at 5 a.m. Monday, according to police spokesman Officer John Morrison.

The male assailant was last seen fleeing on foot and is thought to have driven off in a shiny black car.

Police quoted the woman as saying she was at the north end of the park’s boardwalk when a male subject stopped her. The assailant asked if she had money and implied he was armed. There was a brief struggle and the suspect ran off.

The suspect is described as being 5 foot 7 inches rall, younger than 20 years old, with a thin build and short dreadlocks. He was wearing a dark-colored tank top and shorts.
