Subway Restaurant: Man armed with a handgun robs Vero Beach eatery

VERO BEACH, Fla. - Indian River County Sheriff deputies and K-9s are searching the area around the 600 block of U.S. 1 in Vero Beach looking for a man who robbed a Subway Restaurant Wednesday evening, said Sgt. Thomas Raulen, spokesman for the sheriff's office.

Raulen said the suspect entered the restaurant at 626 U.S. 1 around 9 p.m., threatened the clerk with a handgun and made off with an undetermined amount of cash.

The suspect, who was described as a black man, wearing a black jacket and pants, a boonie hat and a nylon-type pantyhose over his face, fled on foot northbound on 6 th Avenue, Raulen said.

No one was injured in the robbery, Raulen said.
