Robert Rhein: Vero Beach pizza deliveryman who was beaten and robbed still recovering after attack

He was jumped by a group of teenagers, beaten and robbed. Now that victim is telling his story to WPTV.

Robert Rhein spends his days at home. His doctor won't let him work.

"It's just frustrating because bills come in and I don't have any way of dealing with it," says Rhein.

Rhein works at a Domino's in Vero Beach. He began delivering pizza after losing his construction job several years ago.

"We live week to week," says Rhein.

On July 19, the store received a $78 order for an apartment on 13th place. Rhein says he got out of the car with the pizza and waited for someone to pay him. That's when he says a group of teenagers attacked him.

"He just kept on punching and punching and punching," says Rhein.

When the attack was over he called 9-1-1. Rhein suffered several cracked ribs, a deviated septum and his left hand is numb. His family is now struggling without his paycheck. He hopes to return to work soon.

"Provide for the family," says Rhein, "It's not like we're making a fortune."

A neighbor started a gofundme  page to help out the family. They're hoping donations will help them get by until Rhein can return to work.

The Indian River County Sheriff's Office says three teenagers have been arrested.
