Lawrence Frazier, a nursing assistant, hit dementia patient in face, police say

VERO BEACH, Fla. -  A Sebastian man is charged with battery of an 87-year-old dementia patient in a care facility on Fourth Court, according to arrest reports.

Lawrence Frazier, 52, of the 600 block of Vocelle Avenue, Sebastian, was arrested Tuesday in connection with an incident March 4 at Clare Bridge. An arrest affidavit alleges the certified nursing assistant hit the patient in the face and forcefully grabbed her arm. That was as the patient was overhead screaming, “No, no, no.”

A certified nursing assistant in the facility heard the screaming and the Florida Department of Children and Families was alerted, leading to an investigation.

If convicted, Frazier could be sentenced to up to five years in prison for the third-degree felony.
