VERO BEACH — An Indian River County grand jury has indicted Michael Jones for the first-degree murder of Diana Duve.
Jones, 33, a bank investment adviser, was indicted in connection with strangulation death of his former girlfriend, court records show. Duve’s body was found in the trunk of her car in Melbourne on June 23 — three days after her disappearance from Vero Beach, police reports show.
Assistant State Attorney Brian Workman, who is prosecuting the case, said it is too early to say whether prosecutors will seek the death penalty. Police initially arrested Jones on a charge of first-degree murder. Prosecutors then filed a second-degree charge because they first need an indictment before they can file a first-degree murder charge.
