Blue Angels appearance making advance ticket sales brisk for Vero Beach Airshow

VERO BEACH — With the U.S. Navy Blue Angels flying into Vero Beach in May for one of only 35 of their scheduled shows in 2014, advance airshow ticket sales already are brisk.

The elite flight demonstration squadron will be at the Vero Beach Airshow May 10 and May 11, and publicist Jan Binney said community support for the show is growing by the day.

“People are really excited,” said Binney. “We are getting some really good community support for the airshow but there is still time for more people to volunteer and help out during the event.”

Advance general admission tickets for the Vero Beach Air Show are available now at: Piper Pilot Shop, Center State Bank, C.J. Cannon’s Restaurant, Marine Bank and Trust, Schlitt Services, Seacoast Bank, and the Victory Center at Indian River Mall.

Tickets are $20 per adult; $10 for ages 12-15; and $8 for ages 5-11. Admission prices will be higher at the gate.

Special discounted tickets for active and retired members of the military are available for $15 until May 7at the Victory Center at the Veteran’s Council’s store at the Indian River Mall.

Other top performers appearing in the Vero Beach Airshow include Patty Wagstaff, Skip Stewart, Chris Darnell and his Shockwave Jet Truck; Rob Holland, Julie Clark and her Team Juice Plus+ T-34; “Mr. Airshow” Gene Soucy and wing walker Teresa Stokes; the Lucas Oil air show team featuring Mike Wiskus and the Lucas Oil Skydivers; David Folk in the Vought F4U-5N Corsair; the Quick Silver P-51 Mustang “The Resurrected Veteran” flown by Scott “Scooter” Yoak; and Fat Albert C-130 Hercules.

Rick Grissom is the producer/director of the show, and Wayne Boggs is the Air Boss. Piper Aircraft is the show’s presenting sponsor.

When the Blue Angels team flew into Vero Beach last November to inspect the airfield, pilot Lt. Ryan Chamberlain said during a briefing at Piper the flight team is looking forward to performing in Vero Beach.

“When you go to small-town America and you bring the Blue Angels, you just can’t beat it,” Chamberlain said.
