VERO BEACH, Fla. - Residents who live next to the home where a triple- shooting happened Saturday night describe the chaos they witnessed on their street.
Authorities say the shooting happened at a 17-year-old girl's birthday party by an uninvited guest.
The 17-year-old was in the hospital in stable condition Sunday night. The homeowner, and host of the party was the 17-year-old's older sister. She said an 18-year-old and 19-year-old were also shot. Both are expected to be okay.
Neighbor Chris Cronin recorded the slew of rescue crews that arrived at the home on 34th avenue after 11:30 P.M. on his cell phone.
Cronin heard several gunshots. "We thought it was fireworks or something but right away one of my friends knew it was gun shots," said Cronin.
Another neighbor, who wanted to be unidentified, said she heard loud music, but then something that worried her more. "You could hear voices at that point in time. It wasn't happiness for a birthday party, it was starting to get serious," the neighbor explained.
Cronin's cell phone video recorded screaming, yelling, and crying. "I heard a few people over there saying their sister had been shot, their sister had been shot."
The other neighbor heard the same thing. "There was one woman just beyond herself crying out 'someone help me, someone help me'," the neighbor said.
The homeowner and host said she tried to make guests leave when she saw the uninvited guest flash a weapon while dancing. She said shots were fired inside and outside of the house.
Neighbors are now hopeful who ever fired the shots, will not be back.
"How they found out about this birthday party, and how they ended up here, who knows."
The Indian River County Sheriff's Office is following leads for several suspects.
No arrests have been made.
