A man wanted for the sale and possession of cocaine was arrested Sunday after Indian River County Sheriff's deputies found him hiding in a Vero Beach motel.
Andrew Jones Jr. was investigated by the Multi Agency Criminal Enforcement (MACE) Unit as part of a larger investigation that led to six search warrants, four arrests, and seven arrest warrants.
Sunday morning, deputies received a tip that Jones was hiding in the Knights Inn motel at 8800 20th Street. Deputies showed a picture to hotel staff, who confirmed Jones was seen in a room rented by an unidentified female.
Phone calls to the room and knocks on the door went unanswered. Deputies then attempted to use a key card to enter the room, but the deadbolt kept the door from opening.
When it became clear Jones was not going to unlock the door, deputies used a door breaching battering ram and broke the window into the room. Jones then surrendered and was taken into custody, according to deputies.
Jones post $35,500 bond and was released from the county jail Sunday night.
Deputies say Nicholas Chandler was also in the room. He told deputies Jones had instructed him not to answer the door or telephone. Deputies arrested Chandler for obstructing justice and was found to be out of jail on bond from a burglary charge. He remains in jail as of Monday morning.
More charges may come to the unidentified woman who rented the hotel room, according to the sheriff's office.
