Two carjacking suspects have been arrested in Vero Beach.

The Indian River County Sheriff's Office says a 76-year-old man was parked outside the Publix grocery store at Olso Road and U.S. 1 on Sunday at approximately 2 p.m., when two juveniles entered his vehicle, drove him to the Oslo boat ramp and forced him out. The victim, who requires an oxygen tank, was not injured, the sheriff's office said.

St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office deputies, who were alerted to the crime, stopped the vehicle a short time later in St. Lucie County at King's Highway and Angle Road.

"Indian River and St. Lucie Counties are safer today now that these teen criminals are off the streets and behind bars. They left this man for dead, all for the opportunity to take a joyride in a vehicle. We will not tolerate this behavior and will make sure justice is served," Indian River County Sheriff Deryl Loar said in a statement.

Two juveniles are in custody and detectives are continuing their investigation.

The sheriff's office said no weapons were displayed during the carjacking.

Story updated to clarify the suspects are juveniles.
