Harold Kupchek arrested for suspicion of passing counterfeit money in Sebastian

Kupchek was arrested on 5 felony charges

SEBASTIAN, Fla. - Police have arrested a man suspected of passing counterfeit money in Sebastian.

The arrest follows several reports of phony twenty dollar bills appearing in banks and stores in the city.

Investigators say they were able to make the arrest after receiving a tip that that a man from New York was passing the bills. They also received a description and photo of the man.

Around 4 a.m. Wednesday they discovered a person sleeping in a car with a New York registration.
 
They identified him as 30-year-old Harold J. Kupchek, a former resident of Sebastian. Police say he confessed to making and passing the counterfeit twenty dollar bills.

Police say a search of his vehicle turned up Oxycodone and drug paraphernalia.

Kupchek faces 5 felony counts of Uttering Forged/Counterfeit Bills, 1 felony count of Possession of a Controlled Substance (Oxycodone),and  1 misdemeanor count of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
