Southbound turnpike lanes reopen after semi-truck fire

ST. LUCIE COUNTY, Fla. -- All lanes have reopened on Florida's Turnpike after a tanker truck fire in the southbound lanes this morning, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

The incident occurred just north of Okeechobee Road between Indian River County and St. Lucie County lines.

St. Lucie County Fire Rescue officials responded to the scene.

The tanker was carrying liquid nitrogen. FHP reports the brakes and tires caught fire.

Liquid nitrogen is non-flammable, but puts out a lot of vapor, according to FHP officials.
