Meagan Cruce charged after 2 children found living at 'deplorable' Fellsmere home

FELLSMERE, Fla. - One person was arrested by the Indian River Sheriff's Office following a Thursday morning raid at a Fellsmere home.

Deputies said that when they served a search warrant at the home, located at 90 N Hickory St., they found what they described as deplorable conditions inside.

Investigators said there were 10 dogs inside the home, four of which did not have water or adequate shelter.

According to deputies, the home was infested with fleas, cockroaches and flies.

The house also had numerous outlet and wall sockets with live electrical wires exposed.

The Florida Department of Children and Family Services were called to the scene because two small children were inside, according to deputies.

Meagan Cruce was arrested by deputies and charged with drug possession, three counts of cruelty to animals and one count of confinement of animals without sufficient food or water.

Indian River County Sheriff's Deputies say that additional arrests are possible and a weapon recovered at the house is being tested to determine if it was used in a homicide several years ago in Fellsmere.
