INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, Fla. — A motorist being pursued following a shoplifting report crashed into a sign in front of Seacoast National Bank in the 6000 block of 20th Street on Tuesday afternoon, the Indian River County Sheriff's Office said.
The driver of the Nissan Sentra, Julie Pierre, 31, of Fort Pierce, was charged with driving while her license was suspended and driving with an expired license, Deputy Wolfgang Weber said.
The crash happened shortly after 3 p.m. Tuesday when Pierre was traveling west on 20th and attempted to make a right turn into the shopping center, Weber said. She made the turn too fast and lost control of the car, which spun and struck the pedestrian crossing sign in front of the bank, he said.
Deputies took Pierre and a second woman into custody. No details were available about other charges.
