Interstate 95 in Indian River County reopens after lingering smoke closed about 20 miles

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, Fla. -- Lingering smoke from a controlled burn at the Sebastian Buffer Preserve temporarily shut down southbound and northbound lanes in Interstate 95 this morning.

Lanes reopened around 7:40 a.m.

The closures were from the Fellsmere Road exit in Indian River County to the Palm Bay Road Exit in Brevard County.

Indian River County Fire Rescue Captain Mark Daniels said that's about an 18 to 20 mile stretch.

Florida Highway Patrol assisted with this incident.
