The Indian River County Sheriff’s Office said a 55-year-old man pleaded guilty last week to lewd and lascivious battery on a minor girl in connection with a 2015 case.
According to a news release on Thursday, detectives were contacted by the mother of the child when she learned of the allegations.
The victim alleged that Michael Stuckey, 55, of Gifford, Fla., sexually molested her on more than one occasion between 2007 and 2011.
The sheriff’s office said a detective worked with the family to obtain incriminating statements from Stuckey, who eventually admitted to the allegations.
Stuckey was sentenced to a 25-year mandatory sentence with lifetime sex offender probation, if he is ever released from prison.
