Gifford woman in custody after barricading herself inside apartment
Indian River County Sheriff's deputies keep watch over a home in the 4000 block of Kennedy Court in Gifford where a woman has barricaded herself inside.
INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, Fla. - A standoff between a woman suspected of firing a gun and the Indian River County Sheriff's Office has ended.
According to the sheriff's office, the incident began around 9 a.m. when two women began arguing in front of an apartment complex in the 4700 block of Kennedy Court in Gifford.
They say one of the women fired a gun then ran into her apartment and locked the door.
No one was hit and only one shot was fired.
A SWAT team as well as crisis negotiators were called to try and end the standoff.
The sheriff's office says the woman, identified as Tamara Moore, was taken into custody and she is being booked into the the Indian River County Jail.
She faces charges of aggravated assault with a firearm, discharge of a firearm in public, and improper exhibition of a weapon.
