Indian River County Sheriff's Office detectives executed search warrants and concluded a narcotics and weapons investigation in Gifford on Friday.

The S.W.A.T. Team entered the residences at 3115 43rd Street and 4290 32nd Avenue. A wooden barricade was found placed in front of one of the homes to delay law enforcement entry, officials say.

Detectives found more than twenty-three grams of crack cocaine, twenty seven grams of marijuana, fourteen hydromorphone pills, and fifty-eight grams of an unidentified substance. A loaded .380 caliber Taurus handgun was also recovered.

"Last night, our deputies braved the dangers of two drug houses to take a loaded gun and drugs off the streets. We recovered an as yet unidentified substance that may be Flakka. We will continue to focus our efforts on arresting those who think they can sell drugs and poison the youth of our community, " said Indian River County Sheriff Deryl Loar.

36-year-old Cornelius Hield was arrested and charged with possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia. He is currently being held at the Indian River County Jail on $6,000.00 bond.

A 17-year-old was also arrested and charged with resisting without violence.

Detectives anticipate more arrests as a result of this investigation.
